Wanting to just FREAKIN run away....I think I know why now...
by oompa inthe past year or so was year was really, really bad as i came to realize the waking up experience.
once i knew for sure wt was a sham, (although maybe sincere), i had this immediate feeling i would have to leave.....everything.
of course my wife was already going nuts from all my study, questions, doubts, letters to society, meetings with elders....but once i really knew and felt i would have to leave.... i did leave several times.

I understand what you are saying, oompa. I too do not wish to be treated like a freak and so keep the family believing that I'm still in that freakin' religion (as a pioneer, no less!). I dread to visit any of them for the very real fear of not having anything in common with them anymore. You are in good company. But you are really turning from being a freak in society to being a normal member of it. I guess that doesn't really matter as the people you are close to are the ones that matter to you and would label you. I wish you success in figuring all of this out. It's so difficult to reinvent one's self after leaving the cult.

I was wondering that all my life. If God knows all and sees all, why didn't he step in and stop Satan from screwing everything up before it became common knowledge amongst the angels? If it was caught before it got out of hand, there would be no "right to rule" issue to settle. Why have so much suffering to settle the issue? Why not prove it as the Bible says: Creation bears witness.... No need for suffering. No need to demand love, either.

1. What was it like when you "awakend?" 2. How did you know, and......
by oompa in2.5 how did you react at that time?.
3.how long was it before you somehow took action on this event?
4. was there a particular thing that all of a sudden caused you to wake up, or did doubts build over the years?

5.What finally did it for you?
6. How long before you in some way were no more part of your congregation?
I experienced a rush of shock and relief when I suddenly realized that there was no Christlike love. That is the deciding factor mentioned by Jesus in the Bible: "By this all will know you are my disciples if you have love among yourselves." They didn't. I was free. I quit going immediately after realizing the environment was loveless. They tell you over and over again how there is love in the congregation, so it might take a while to realize that it is a lie. I had a bag of doubts hidden away in the back of my mind that I daren't look at. Finally, after discovering the ID'ing feature of the "true church" was missing (love), I gradually opened that bag of doubts and started to analize what was in it. I made a date of December 2005 being the last phantom time I would turn in. That was the cut off date. I quit going cold turkey after an evening of tearful roaming of the parking lot and no one coming out to check on me or ask me why I left the meeting all of the sudden. I stalked out of there after the umpteenth time of not having an interpreter. Enough was enough.

Why Are Jehovah's Witnesses NOT "The Truth"???
by minimus inlist your reasons why you can say that the witnesses clearly do not have "the truth".

The logical falacies they come up with are too numerous to allow the JW's any credibility for belief by non-JW's. For example: Birthday parties are bad because two kings in ancient Israel killed two people on their birthdays. That makes birthdays bad. In my book, murder makes the murderer look bad, not the day on which it happened. Also, parts of the birthday celebration do have roots in paganism, but so does everything JW's do for marraige ceremonies. Don't want to put someone on a pedistal? That would mean cutting out baby and bridal showers, going away parties, graduation, retirement, and anniversary parties. God instituted marraige? OK, that's fine, but he did NOT institute the marraige ceremony known as the wedding with all of its pagan origins. Santa bad because he is a lie? What about the wild beast in Revelation? Doesn't exist, either. JW religion is led by Pharisees. Oh, the list goes on and on....

Doesn't basil even look different than pot? It would be hard to roll basil into a joint, I would think.

Caught quite a doozy at the meeting Thursday night...
by B_Deserter inok, get this.... .
according to the man that gave this talk, we don't need to worry about whether it was possible for the jonah story to be true (surviving in the stomach of a sea-going animal for three days without dying), it was true because god said it, and that's what proves it to be true.

My childhood questions about the ark and Jonah: How did all those animals fit into the ark? How did they know to come into the ark? How did Jonah breathe inside the fish? How did he eat if fish (eaten by big fish) must be bled properly? Did he have a knife? How did he cook the fish? Did the fish beach itself in order to vomit Jonah out onto dry land? I'm sorry all you Bible lovers, but it just doesn't add up for me. I mean no disrespect for Bible lovers.

Blueviceroy,
Yes, I think along the same lines. Humans can write fiction now, and they sure could have written it then. How can anyone know for sure much of the Bible is fiction? Look at science. There are just too many Bible events that violate the laws of physics.
